Facilitated Communities

Workshops are an essential organizational tool for targeted learning. But there are some organizational challenges that no workshop can solve. Exploring deep, organizational culture issues in a good way requires convening consistent, brave, organizational spaces that allow the proper time and space to reflect, move at the speed of trust, and contend with how to move forward. Bringing in an external facilitator can ease tensions and increase psychological safety.

We offer 6-session cohort-based experiences for small to medium-sized groups of staff to support healing, empathy, exploration, and recovery. We use proven strategies that are trauma-informed, protect confidentiality, foster trust, and encourage participants to blossom in these mindfully-facilitated, brave spaces. Sessions can be held weekly or every two weeks. Facilitated Communities are offered virtually across so-called North America and in-person in the Greater Toronto Area.

Facilitated Communities offerings include:

  • Communities of Healing: Designed for people from equity-denied groups, these communities bring together staff with similar identities to share joys, challenges, and feel affirmed in their identities, with an intersectional lens. Starting with a foundational topic base, topics are co-designed with each cohort. Available for the following groups: 2SLGBTQIA+, Black and racialized, neurodivergent, or any combination.
  • Communities of Empathy: Designed for leadership, HR, and People & Culture staff, this community explores the lived experiences of people from four equity-denied groups: 2SLGBTQIA+, Black and racialized, neurodivergent, and people with disabilities. Topics are set but allow space for emergent issues. 
  • Communities of Exploration: Designed for leadership, HR, and People & Culture staff, these communities help teams contend with unexpected departmental or organizational events, and explore solutions without giving in to urgency culture. Something happened that you didn’t expect. Now what? Topics are co-designed with each cohort to allow for full unpacking of the options while identifying clear decision-making pathways. 
  • Communities of Recovery: Designed for leadership, HR, and People & Culture staff, these communities help organizations contend and recover from significant organizational traumas, such as the death of a colleague, a sudden ED shift, the end of a major round of funding, staff layoffs, etc. Starting with a foundational topic base, topics are co-designed with each cohort to support naming the trauma, exploring how it impacted which groups, and assessing how organizational healing may begin.
